I’ve been attending Pubcon each year since 2003…and this year one of the panels that I’m speaking on is called “Linkfluence: Buying Links With […]
London SES Feedback on Link Building Methods and Risks
Last week I spoke in London at the Search Engine Strategies (SES) Conference about “Link Building – Methods and Risks”. I was lucky in that I had a 1 hours time slot all to myself, rather than the usual 10-15 minutes that one normally gets when you’re on a panel with others. I’ve often felt […]
Higher Than Deserved Rankings – Are you too High?
Yesterday I happened to be on wikipedia.com on the trustrank page, when I scrolled over the words “various techniques to achieve higher-than-deserved rankings” in the second paragraph, and the link title popped up “Search Engine Optimization” hum…so Search Engine Optimization is “various techniques to achieve higher-than-deserved rankings“…but hey…I do believe I’ve heard those exact words […]
Pagerank is Dead. Sculpting is Dead. Trust is Alive….in my eyes.
There’s been a few debates that I’ve wanted to weigh in on… one that comes to mind is the big hub bub over pagerank sculpting via use of the nofollow tags…. Pagerank sculpting is based on the formula from the original Pagerank patent from 1998, (PDF) that says the value of a backlinks is found […]

You Bloody Bastard! ….I can see bots crawling the web with spam filters looking for words like “guest post” or “written by X” where X has to equal the site author…
CEO Post: Types of Link Building w/pros and cons
ok…I know… kinda cheap for me to make post #2 a CEO post with a pitch at the end of it….but it’s what my writing ended up with.. (when I started writing I didn’t know where it would end up…that’s how I write… for those who aren’t familiar with my writing, I tend to write […]
Sympathy for the SERP Chaser

A Site without Linkability is a Site Destined for Failure
Over the past few weeks, we’ve been working on new reports with analysis and recommendations for our clients. One report that all our clients are getting is the “Content Analysis Report.” This particular report is essential to everyone. A link building campaign will run out of steam quickly if there’s not much of a reason […]
Jim Boykin: Paid Links Aren’t Worth It To Me
Two days ago Matt Cutts said, “The reality is that accepting money to link to/promote/market for a product without disclosing that fact is a very high-risk behavior, in my opinion.” And I believe him€¦.big time€¦.I can tell you from first hand experience that buying links can be a “high-risk behavior”, and it can have very […]
